editing of our prelim

We have been learning how to use editing in a proper way. The things we learnt were how to check in and out in final cut server and final cut pro. We had some fun during editing and matching the shoots with each other. We did some silly mistakes which ended really funny, so beside the editing work we also had some fun. There was a part in the time line of the clip where we muted the sound while one of our actors was talking, because we wanted to insert some music instead of silence. We searched for some music, but it went too complicated so we decided to find some music from the computer we were working from. We found a folder containing different sounds, we wanted to find one which would match the feeling which our actor had during the close up of her face. There were some really funny sounds, we laughed a lot.

The hard process was basically learning how to work with the final cut pro in the beginning.  It seemed quit complicated at first how to match the right shots with each other to make a sequence of our clip. We were  link selecting different shots a lot of times to make sure they match each other. We also had some difficulties with edditing and cutting sounds. We did a lot of extra shots which basically were really usefull because we could grab some useful moments from the extra shots and edit them to our clip.

If i had to do it again i think i would make more shots so we could have some more usefull moments to edit to our actuall clip. I would also make actors talk louder, because one of the actors was talking quit and noices within the room were covering hos voice. I didnt really like the place where we had to film our actors, if i had to do it again i would change the place. I didnt use computer much, but i was helping with ideas which shots matches, what and when we should use in terms of matching shots and also i worked with sound for the whole time.=

What does Thriller mean and it's types

                                                                    What is a thriller?..............................

Thriller is one of the kinds of genre used in TV programs, film which uses tension, excitement and fear as the main elements. Thrillers heavily affect the person’s mood, depending on the kind of thriller the person watches. Such films are meant to be adrenalin-rushing, fast-paced and emotional.
The main aim for thriller is to make the audience to be watchful and to make them insight into the film. But it is also quit difficult for director and other participants of the movie to make the aim to success.
Most of the thriller movies involve characters to come into conflict with each other. The atmosphere is a creepy and sudden violence, such as situations in crime and murder. Movies with such genre present world and society as dark, corrupt and dangerous. The tension builds up step by step, but the most emotional moment comes when character steps into mysterious situation, or gets into trap. Thrillers take place often in suburbs, cities or sometimes in exotic settings such as foreign country, cities, deserts, Polar Regions or high seas.
There several types of thriller. The different types are: Conspiracy Thriller, Political Thriller, Spy Film Thriller, Psychological Thriller and Techno-thrillers.

Conspiracy Thriller:  The main characters of such thriller are often journalists or investigators who are getting into a trap.  Where the main point of the movie is often followed by lies, rumours, propaganda. A part of a such type of thriller fiction work can also be considered as being secret history.
Example of The Conspiracy Thriller (or paranoid thriller) include: V for Vendetta- shadowy freedom fighter known only as "V" uses terrorist tactics to fight against his Totalitarian society. Syriana-A CIA agent, an energy analyst, and an antitrust lawyer are embroiled in a web of corruption and assassination involving Big Oil. The International- An Interpol agent investigating a shadowy banking cartel discovers money laundering, political corruption, war profiteering, and assassination plots.

Political Thriller: It is a thriller where the backdrop of a political power struggle.  It usually involves extra-legal plots, mad to make someone powerful in government, and made up opponent who is trying to stop the powerful governor. International politicians or politics could be involved too, to make the movie more interesting, by showing the audience about different countries’ politics. Political corruption, terrorism and warfare are mostly the common themes. Some of the movies of Political thriller are based on true facts.
Examples of Political Thriller are: The Conversation -A paranoid and personally-secretive surveillance expert has a crisis of conscience when he suspects that a couple he is spying on will be murdered. Z-.... Following the murder of a prominent leftist, an investigator tries to uncover the truth while government officials attempt to cover up their roles. The Crying Game- A British soldier is kidnapped by IRA terrorists. He befriends one of his captors, who is drawn into the soldier's world.

Spy Thriller:  Is mainly about government agents and their risk of being discovered by their enemies. From the earlier movies about Nazi and until nowadays movies about 007 are being still popular. Such type of thriller has been always popular among worldwide audience. The Spy film combines variety of themes, like action, science fiction, exiting escapism and technological thrill. It clearly presents the hero whom audience will support.
Example are: Obviously the most famous Spy Thriller movie is the series of James Bond. Which have always been popular among the whole world. And of course the Bourne film series are being popular until nowadays. There also might be comedies included in Spy Thriller movies, as an example Duplicity is one such kind. It is a 2009 American romantic comedy spy film written and directed by Tony Gilroy, and starring Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. The plot follows two corporate spies with a romantic history who collaborate to carry out a complicated con.

Psychological Thriller. Is a film with heavy focus on the main character, it is a combination of mystery and thriller. Particular in this type of thriller there is no physical power used to overcome enemies, there is a mental power which dominates.  This kind of thriller is the most emotional and the most difficult to watch in terms of tension and emotions the person gets watching such kind of movie. It involves mystery and uncovered plot, which is released at the end of the movie, or even sometimes when the movie comes to the end, the mystery is still not solved.
Examples are: The Talented Mr Ripley -in late 1950s New York, Tom Ripley, a young underachiever, is sent to Europe to retrieve a rich and spoiled millionaire playboy, named Dickie Greenleaf. But when the errand fails, Ripley takes extreme measures.  Fatal Attraction- A married man's one night stand comes back to haunt him when that lover begins to stalk him and his family. The Game- Wealthy financier Nicholas Van Orton gets a strange birthday present from wayward brother Conrad: a live-action game that consumes his life.

Closed School

My idea was to film about a school for crazy and morally unbalanced students.  I don’t really know have there been such places so my idea would be based on true event, but I think audience would be quit scared of watching a trailer about such school. But it is not the main idea. The opening would be about new guy who just entered the school. His name is Edmond Eerie. He is really shy and calm, but he seems to be too mysterious. First few days everything went well as usually. But after woods, horrible things began to happen. Day after day schools find out dead students who hang themselves in their rooms or somewhere in the school. And there is a letter left in each pocket of the student saying “I    “will free the world”.

The new guy is the obviously the one who kills them. But he is not using any physical power; he has a supernatural power which makes people commit suicide. This continues to happen until school invites special detective who is going do full research about what is happening.

The camera shots I would use would be: Point of view shot, Mid shot, Wide shot, Over the shoulder shot, Close up, Medium close up and also framing more than a character, to show a sense of how they relate to each other. Point of view shot would be used when detective enters the film, using that I would shot provide perspectives from a particular character’s point of view.

In my opinion it would be quite effective if non-diegetic music would be used when necessary to make the certain situation in the movie to have more tension.

It would be possible to understand that it is a thriller because of the mise-en scene. Having different mysterious props in the scene. Also it would be noticeable because of the sound at the beginning of the trailer, I would

Analysis of a poster "Abraham Lincoln, The Vampire Hunter"

Purpose: The purpose of this film is to show the mains characters emotion, his anger and possibly the desire to take revenge. The main's character name written with "Vampire Hunter" catches people's attention, because the mix is quit unusual.

Colour:Grey, red and black colours are used. The black colour of Lincoln's cloak signifies his loneliness and anger. The red colour of the title "Vampire Hunter" signifies that there is going to be blood, death and other horrible images.

Key Image:The central image is the tall and slim man standing of the end of the train which is collapsing. He is holding his axe on one hand and his hat on the other, this gives us an image of him walking out of that hell with serious face like nothing happened.

Background:On the background we can see one end of the train being destroyed, this shows that some action took place some time ago. The gray smoke coming out from the train, covers the bright moon which is the only source of light.

Target Audience: I think this poster would attract action and fantasy lovers.  The tall and slim man holding his axe in one hand and his hat in another, will catch lots of people's attention . His iron facial expression and sharp look make us think about his mysterious and maybe terrible background story.

Reaction: If i had not seen this movie my first reaction would be feeling interest towards this movie. Because this image is quit interesting, how is it possible to write in a title the name of an USA president and Vampire Hunter underneath it.

Hana-Sound

The clip starts off from us hearing the fottsteps, which mean that someone is going to enter the room. As agent enters the room and dialog starts after aa while Hanna starts to cry. As Hanna starts to cry we can hear her taking short breaths which signifies her fear, but all of a sudden we see her breaking agent's neck and we can hear the of tenders cracking. Then we hear the diegetic sound of the door wheel opening which than transforms to non-diegetic music which signifies the begining of action.
When the non-diegetic trance music statrs, we hear the beginning of trance music which matches the heartbeat of Hanna. Hanna starts to escape the duilding and she gets near to the escape point the trance music gets more and ,more tension. At the beggining of her escape the trance music is not changing the tension, but when the door opens and we see soldiers coming out the music suddenly changes to more active rythm During her escape we can hear other background noices  throught the trance music, like voices of soldiers mumbling something, their footsteps, guns beining reloaded and a voice from radio set. Also there is non-diegetic sounds of blasts firing. As she gets near to exit there is a moment where she sees soldiers running towards her and at that point we hear the music changing showing danger.

Prelim Task

We had some fun while we were filming our clip sequence. I enjoyed the most our rehearsals, when our actors did silly mistakes, which was quite funny. The most important in what I learnt was how to work properly in team. We were only filming short sequences and we had some tension while doing it, so I can’t imagine how much more difficult, and more responsible will be each member of our team have  on the work he/she is doing. I didnt like our unexperienced knoledge of filming. Luckly we had a good team, where everyone put some effort for succesing. We all were splited into some certain roles. As an example i was corecting and helping out actors with their positions and their behaviour. I thinki i contributed enought effort, as well as everyone did. Now after the first time where i was included into a such work, i am more experienced. One of the things i would like to change if we were to do this again, would be to change the place where we filmed our clip. Also i would find more experiened actors who would be more confident and who would treat the filming more seriously.
We chose to be in the simple room with some music devices. Our room was full of computers and other electronic devices. We also had a dark room where we had our last shots taken, of an actor turning around and saying his lines. This last moment made the clip to be more tention and mysterious. We had different variety of shots, like Over the shoulder shot, low angle shot , close-up shot, medium close up shot, bid close up shot and mid shot. Each of them had their own meanning. One of the most important shots were Bid close up  shot and Low angle shot. We used Bid close up shot to show emotinons and details  of both actors. Low angle shot was used to indicate who has higher status , who was much more powerful. I didnt film any shots because we already had one of our team members who was filming. I was correcting and helping out actors with what they should do, and how they should behaive. I showed how they should react to what they hear in terms of facial expression.
