Conventions of our web site

While we were making our web site, one of our tasks was to have all the conventions which audience would be expecting to see in any of their band’s web site.

The link to our web is http://maggiecampbell72.wix.com/thedmnd, while the three  other links to web sites, which we looked at to find the existing conventions are http://thenbhd.com/gb/page/2/   (For the group “The Neighborhood”), http://the1975.com (For the group ‘The 1975”) and http://www.arcticmonkeys.com ( For the group ‘ Arctic Monkeys’)

 

Layout and font:

These are the three titles for the three bands mentioned. The clear layout, bold titles and the big shrift are the typical way of designing the band’s name on web site, thus being easy to look at and which will appeal to our audience. The title did not have any other unnecessary distractions such as words in different colour or different shrifts, which could drag the viewer’s attention from the rest of the site

Navigation for our web site

We have a banner on top of our home page, which links different relevant areas of the website. Such navigation makes it much easier for viewers to find what they are looking for, and so everyone can access it without any difficulties

Overall View on our website

From our researches into conventions we didn’t see so many bands which have their actual music video on the home page of their website. However it didn’t stop us doing that, since we believe that it would promote our band and make it much easier to watch the clip, rather than going to YouTube and searching for it

 

 

 

 

Logo

Most of the indie/rock bands as we researched have their own logo of the band. The design of a logo is considered to give the first impression of a band and one of its purposes is to promote the band’s professionally in industry, which also helps to attract people. Therefore we made our  logo (the one above) so people would have a better memory of our band and could associate it with diamond.
